Choosing your wedding florist is SUCH an important aspect of the big day, and it’s really worth taking time over the decision to make sure all bases have been covered .

Early planning is esssential.  Give yourself at least four to six months before the big day to research and finalise your wedding flowers.

Getting a heads up from other people is a good place to start.  Talk to family and friends about their experiences and see if they have any personal recommendations.  Other people who will have first-hand experiences and who are great sources of information include hairdressers, the venue manager, dress designers and photographers..

When you’re looking for ideas, Perth online florists are a good option.  There’s a mass of information out there, photographs, trends and creative ideas to inspire you.   Start an ‘ideas file’ of fabric swatches, clippings from magazines or newspapers, photos and downloads which you can share with the florist when you start your selection process.

Before you book your florist, you’ll need to have finalized the ceremony and the reception venues and be well down the road with your wedding gown and what your retinue will be wearing.  It’s an advantage to choose a florist who has prior experience of the chosen venue as they will know what works best, and plus it’s very important to know the proportions of wedding gown in order to firm up on designs of the bouquet etc.

Try and narrow your search to two or three possible florist options.  Before consulting any florists, go through the following checklist:

·         Pictures and photos of floral arrangements and bouquets that appeal to you

·         Sketches or designs of the wedding dress

·         Pieces of fabric from your wedding outfit and the bridesmaid’s outfits

·         Details of your hairstyle on the big day

·         Your requirements : ie bouquet, posies for the flowergirls, rose petals for confetti, church flowers, venue flowers, corsages and buttonholes, cake decorations, table centerpieces etc

·         Venue details

·         Examples of containers for the flowers if you are supplying them

At the meeting, you should ask the florist for :-

·         Testimonials

·         A full breakdown of costings – including insurance, after-hours charges, delivery fee, charges for out-of-season varieties etc

·         Contract detailing cancellation and refund procedures

·         Ask the florist to provide samples of the designs you like.  Also, flowers are seasonal so the ones you choose now may not be readily available on the day.  Out-of-season flowers carry a heftier price tag, so you may want to talk about options.

Although it may seem a bit uncomfortable, talk to the florist openly about budget and pricing.  Advance warning makes it easier to budget and to plan.

It’s a close relationship between florist and bride, so getting the personality match is vital.  If you answer ‘yes’ to these questions, you’re well on the way to finding your wedding florist :

·         Are they energetic and do you feel confident about their abilities?

·         Are they coming up with good ideas and interesting creative suggestions?

·         Do they really understand your needs and are they listening to what you want?

·         Do you feel they are sharing your excitement?

·         Are they transparent about all expenses?

It’s their job to create beautiful floral arrangements that add that special something to your big day.  After all, it’s your once-in-a-lifetime event – and the florist’s job is to help make dreams come true.

After you’ve interviewed the candidates, take some time to really think about who you’ll choose.  When it comes to wedding flowers Perth florist, Angel Flowers often repeat the old saying that ‘flowers are love’s true language’ – so make sure they speak volumes about you when it comes to your big day!
